This record was a long time coming. I'd met and become friendly with Mark Nevers a few years ago, and I'd wanted to do some recording with him for awhile, so when the money came together for some new sessions, I called Mark. I'd been spending some time in Nashville with the ‘Country Got Soul’ projects and the ‘Country Soul Review’, so it seemed like a good time to work there. We worked with some great musicians, from Tony Crow to one of my all time heroes Clayton Ivey, so it was a pleasure. And then, just to make it even better, Dan Penn came and sang harmony! This one of my favourite records I've ever made - a real mix of country, soul and reggae.
