Don't Dance With Me | Carrying This Weight | Mother Your Son | Ring The Bells
A 7” vinyl-only release, recorded, written, produced and played by Jeb Loy Nichols at home in Wales. A lo-fi masterpiece. With a special hand-printed cover by Jeb Loy; each one is different, with 8 different colour combinations available. Each one is signed by Jeb Loy. An unmissable collectors item!
Jeb Loy says “They were all recorded at home in my place in Wales. I wrote 'em, I produced 'em, and I played 'em. Barry, who sells tires in a shop down the road, came and played Hammond on ‘Don't Dance’. I love 'em, best thing I've done in years. This is what I've always wanted to do, a little southern groove, some reggae, a whole lotta country.”
track by track notes:
1. Don't Dance With Me - I wrote this one a few years ago and was keeping it for a straight country album. But when I started to do some new tracks it just seemed to fit. And then when Barry came and played Hammond on it, I knew it was ready.
2. Carrying This Weight - This is another song that's gone through some changes. It started as a jazzy thing, then went toward a straighter country feel, and then, finally, ended up the way it is.
3. Mother Your Son - I wrote this one after listening to Sandy Denny all day - I thought I might call the EP Denny All Day. I love the feel of this one, a conversation with my mom, half a world away but always near.
4. Ring The Bells - I wrote this one years ago when I was in a country band called The Mighty Lights - it was a great band and we had the best country bass player I've ever played with, Joe Brack. This was a song I wrote and never recorded but it seemed to sum up what I wanted to do with the new EP, a bluegrass song over a dub rhythm. My favorite song on the EP.
